 BELL Project No. 2009001
Digital restoration of one (of several) 1890s sepia-tone locket-sized photograph.

Our client inherited several ca. 1890s silvered, sepia-tone photographs. He requested we focus specifically on the female child in this particular photograph.

The family's research was quite surprising, concerning the discovery of cranium trauma this child had incurred then surviving well into old age.

We have provided several examples of damage, and a comparrison, which demonstrate the inherent damage, seen on the previous page, as "bleeding-thru" ink, an unknown method of storage and the expected aging of the photographic processes unique to the use of metals. We removed a ghost-like-insect in this photograph found on the child's lower left cheek.

The final restored photograph measured 5" x 7" from the original size 1" x ¾"
Identified as "Aunt Sally one year old"
